Meet the Team

 

    John O'Toole

John O’Toole was born in Dublin in 1950 and brought up in Chatham, Kent from the age of 8. He studied history at King’s College, London and, after studies at St John’s Seminary, Wonersh and St Mary’s College, Strawberry Hill he was Head of R.E. at Richard Challoner School, New Malden, and ordained priest in 1978. He served as an assistant priest in Lewisham and Merton and was also a member of the Team at the (then) Catechetical Centre as R.E. Advisor for Secondary Schools. He served as parish priest in St Paul’s, Thamesmead as a member of the team at the Catholic Missionary Society and, more recently, as parish priest of St Andrew’s, Thornton Heath. He took over as Director of the Christian Education Centre on September 1, 2004.

 

 

 

 

    Cristina Gangemi

Cristina Gangemi is married with three sons and has lived all her life in the Southwark diocese. She has worked as a travel agent, but in the last ten years Cristina has been working in a school for children with physical and learning disabilities. Cristina has been a C.E.C. team member since October 1999.

 

 

 

   

  Molly Styant

Originally from the East Coast of Canada, where Molly was active in parish life as catechist, RE Coordinator and Parish Secretary/Parish Assistant completing a diocesan sponsored Lay Pastoral Ministry Formation Programme there in 1999. Molly has worked at the C.E.C since 2002 as Centre Secretary, Part Time Advisor for the Disability Project and now moves into Adult Formation. Her time will be split between Tooting Bec (Mon, Wed, Thurs) and West Malling (Tues, Fri) where she has an office/resource area. Kent Office - 01732 842839.

 

 

 

 

  Marie Mann

Being a parish catachist, having worked at the Franciscan International Study Centre, Canterbury and for the two years prior to joining the CEC, having been a School's Chaplain, Marie brings a wealth of experience to the role of Adult Formation Advisor for South London. The opportunity to engage with as many of the clergy and parishioners in her area is a key priority, as she settles in to the position she assumed after Easter 2009.

Mary joined the team in October 2004. Originally from Dublin with a background in teaching she has worked as a CIIR volunteer in Haiti and lived in Tanzania. Now with three grown up children and part of St Thomas the Apostle parish in Nunhead where the world comes to Southwark, she is involved with the Justice and Peace group there and other local groups working with Refugees and Asylum Seekers.

 

 

 

    Garry Donaldson

Garry was accepted into the church, as an adult convert, at the Birmingham Oratory in 1980. He moved to St. Thomas a Becket, Wandsworth West Hill parish in 1981 and has been involved with R.C.I.A., Confirmation, Children's Liturgy, Reading, Eucharistic Ministry and general parish life since then. He joined the C.E.C in July 2002.

 

 

 

    Dr. Frank Keen

Frank lived in Toulouse, France for 12 years. He now lives with his wife and son, who is disabled, in South Norwood. Frank has studied Theology, English and French Literature and is a qualified teacher. He was Head of year in a London Comprehensive school. He studied at University in Southampton, Toulouse and Christ Church, Canterbury.

 

 

 

    Graham Wallis

Joined the C.E.C. in January 2003 after 23 years in international banking. Formerly of the parishes of Coulsdon and Croydon, he can now occassionally be found proclaiming the Word at St. Joseph's Church, Bromley.
